Aikido is a Japanese martial art created by an enlightened Master, Morihei Ueshiba, who had come to realise that a healthy development of mind, body and spirit needs loving and disciplined training.
Aikido is a very effective self-defence system.
Beginners men, women and children are welcome. We recommend that you watch if you have never had any experience in martial art. However, if you feel you would like to commence practice on your first day, please speak to the instructor before the class or contact the club.
Light clothes on your first classes will be acceptable. However, once you have joined the club, you will need to wear a GI and a belt. The GI and the belt can be bought through the club at a reduced price through our supplier Nine Circles (supplier of quality Japanese budo equipment).
Please remove all your jewellery prior to the start of the class. This is to avoid any injuries. In addition, cut your nails on hands and feet. Proper hygiene must be observed to avoid any discomfort with the other students during practice.
Please note, it is important that you discuss any health concerns with the instructor or your own doctor prior to start training in Aikido as a beginner.
